What does One Big Change do?
We help students in Nicaragua continue their education so they can rise from poverty. By participating in our Little Helpers, Big Change program, students are actively engaged in contributing to their own scholarships. We provide lifelong, tools so that the students can learn to sustain themselves, give back to their community, and change the future. -

Why Nicaragua?
Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere under Haiti. According to the US World Bank, the average per capital income in Nicaragua is $430, with many people surviving on less than $1 day. Illiteracy is at 34%. In the Autonomous Regions on the Atlantic Coast 43% of people over ten years old are illiterate. In the rural parts of the country, 50% of men and 60% of women cannot read.Aside from the devastating economic and education statistics, our focus on Nicaragua is much deeper. Breno Oliveira, One Big Change’s founder, was touched by his experience with the children of Nicaragua while on his mission trip in 2008.

Can I sponsor a child?
We do not offer the option to sponsor an individual child. We do, however, offer the option to donate to our project. The children’s scholarships are funded primarily by donations, so your donation will sponsor every student’s education.
